CHILL was established in 2012 by six founding fathers – DSM, Sabic, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, Arcus College, Leeuwenborgh Opleidingen, and Maastricht University – based on the belief that collaboration leads to the greatest achievements. The collaborative efforts of these six parties have helped CHILL become the leading institute where knowledge development and R&D converge; a place where innovations flourish.

The company is active in the field of chemicals, polymers, performance chemicals, fertilizers, metals, and innovative plastics. Its European headquarters is located in Limburg, as is one of its R&D and production facilities.
Zuyd University of Applied Sciences is a regional knowledge institute committed to developing and sharing high-quality, practice-oriented knowledge at the higher vocational education level. Zuyd University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of bachelor’s and master’s programs, as well as training programs for professionals. The university also conducts research on behalf of and in collaboration with companies and institutes.
Arcus College is a regional training center for students from Parkstad Limburg. The institute trains students to work in the following fields: construction and infrastructure, technology, mobility and vehicles, creative industries, economics and administration, trade and entrepreneurship, ICT, hotels, restaurants and catering, bakery and services, tourism and recreation, order and safety, health and wellbeing, and hairdressing.
Leeuwenborgh Opleidingen is a regional training center in the Maastricht region. Leeuwenborgh offers programs and courses in the field of technology, economics, health care and wellbeing, education, and CUvV (sports, personal appearance, and safety).
Maastricht University is the most international university in the Netherlands. In addition to its strong international orientation, the organization greatly values its Euregional ties. One example of this is its partnership with CHILL. Maastricht University also offers an academic program at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus: the Maastricht Science Programme.
